This is a proactive approach that includes screening, evaluation and treatment plans based on your age and risk factors. There are four parts to this well woman exam: physical exam, breast exam, pelvic exam, and possibly a pap smear. The well woman visit is for any woman 18 to 90 years old. If you are 40 years old and beyond, we will discuss your plan for a mammogram, especially if you have certain risk factors. Also, if you are having menopause symptoms, we may discuss a specific plan to manage your symptoms.
At your annual exam, we may perform a pap smear along with your other exams. This visit will help us determine if you are at risk for a variety of health concerns such as cervical or breast cancer, sexually transmitted infections, or bone density loss.
During menopause, your estrogen levels decline. Some women experience symptoms like hot flashes, vaginal dryness, and mood changes. Hormone therapy is the most effective method for managing menopause symptoms. We offer human-identical hormone therapy that will effectively and safely manage your symptoms.

An intrauterine device (IUD) is a form of long-term birth control.
A small plastic T-shaped device is inserted into the uterus and can prevent pregnancy for 3 to 10 years (depending on the type of IUD).
The IUD procedure only takes a few minutes, and it can be placed in the office setting.
During the procedure, you may experience some cramping or dizziness. Your provider may recommend that you take an over-the-counter painkiller before the procedure.
The T-shaped IUD is placed in the uterus, leaving 2 small strings outside the cervix for removal.
A follow up appointment may be scheduled after the procedure to be sure the IUD is still in the correct place. Your provider will show you how to check that the IUD is still in the correct position.
Your IUD will be removed when it has reached its expiration date, if you are experiencing a medical problem, if you plan to become pregnant, or if you just want it removed.
It can be removed during a short procedure at our office. Your provider will gently pull on the IUDs strings to pull the IUD through the cervix and out of the vagina.
At this visit, we will explain the causes of abnormal bleeding and discuss your menstrual cycle, length of period, and type of bleeding. We may also use blood tests to check your hormone levels. A specific treatment plan will be created for your needs.
This is a helpful procedure if you bleed between your menstrual periods, have a heavy flow, or have periods that last a long time.
Endometrial ablation removes the endometrium, whics the lining of the uterus.
In most cases, your period will return to normal or a light flow, and sometimes it will stop completely.
This procedure can be done in our office, and most women can return to their normal routine within a few days.
You should not have endometrial ablation if you are pregnant or plan on a pregnancy in the future.
